From far and wide.. And next door.
View Adult Literacy League Student Map in a larger scale with a map key.
Did you know that the Adult Literacy League serves adults originally from over 50 different countries who speak more than 20 different languages? Though the cultures, customs, and traditions may be different, each hard-working learner is unified in one thing... Improving themselves and their community.
Over 85% of our learners come from countries other than the United States of America. We have learners from Haiti, Kyrgyzstan, Canada, France, and even the little island of Guam. Of all the countries, Colombia is the highest represented with 78 adults born there. The USA follows with 77, and Haiti with 67.
Fun facts about our learner's countries of birth!
The country closest to Antarctica: Argentina
The country closest to the North Pole: Russia
The smallest country: Grenada, 344 square kilometers
The largest country: Russia, 17,075,400 square kilometers (that's 49,637 Grenadas!)
The country I didn't know existed: Eritrea
